Meet the Staff

School of Our Lady offers a caring community and an educational environment in which academic scholarship and Christian citizenship flourish. My name is Megan Anderson, and I grew up in South Orange County.  I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child and Adolescent Development and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Fullerton.  I have had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten, second, and third grade, and have been teaching for 5 years at School of Our Lady.  I believe that every child has special God-given talents and abilities.  It is my responsibility as a teacher to nurture students’ talents and facilitate learning to ensure that all students reach his or her potential.

My name is Linda Suarez, and I am honored to be your child’s middle school Language Arts teacher.  I am a graduate from UC Irvine, where I received both my B.A. in English and teaching credential.  I am currently a student at Cal State Fullerton, where I am working on my Master’s Degree in English Literature.  As a former student of School of Our Lady, I plan to instill the same educational philosophy I experienced here.  As an educator, I owe it to my students, as well as the community, to bring consistency, diligence, and warmth to my job in the hope that I can ultimately inspire and encourage such traits in my students as well.

Hi my name is Miss. Wilsey and I am the first grade teacher at School of Our Lady. I received both my undergraduate and graduate degree at California State University Fullerton. I worked at St. Columban for five years as a day care assistant director and a kindergarten aid. I was baptized in the Catholic Church when I was two years old and I continue to go to Saint Columban on a weekly basis. I look forward to working at this great school and working with the parents and community to help our students achieve to the best of their ability.

My name is Mrs. Johns and I am a graduate of Indiana University.  I have completed thirty-six hours of graduate work and hold an Inclusion Certification from Loyola Marymount college. I have been teaching for 24 years and am a mother of four children and have two granddaughters.  I love working with children and enjoy helping them grow intellectually and spiritually. I belive children need to take responsibility for their own actions and know how to locate needed information for themselves, this is my goal.

My name is Angela Burke, and it is a pleasure to be the middle school math and science teacher.  I am a graduate of UC Irvine, where I received both my B.A. and my teaching credential.  During my seventeen years of teaching, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of grade levels.  This is my fourth year teaching at School of Our Lady.  Teaching middle school math and science has been both exciting and challenging.  As an educator, it is my responsibility to encourage students and give them the resources they need to use their God-given talents to reach their potentials.

My name is Rosario Barrera and I am a  graduate of California State University, Long Beach. I received my B. A  in Bilingual Education, Spanish-English,  and Teaching Credential 2003. Currently, I teach Religion and Social Studies to the Middle School students at School of Our Lady. I enjoy  working with children and consider Religion the most important part of  life. Currently, I am studying to obtain my Masters degree in Theology at Loyola Marymount University.

My name is Teresa Fleming, and I am the technology teacher at School of Our Lady.  I received my Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Irvine in the field of Psychology and Social Behavior.  I then went onto National University, where I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. 

As a new teacher to School of Our Lady, I have been welcomed with open arms by both staff and students.  Throughout the year, students will be learning to create Power Points, Spreadsheets, Graphs, Word Processing, and using the internet for research and educational games.  My goal is for every student to be proficient at using computers.

My name is Teresita Sandoval, and I am a teacher’s assistant at School of Our Lady.  I completed my college education in Mexico City and following that I was a Kindergarten teacher for seven years.  After moving to the United States, I worked at the former Immaculate Heart of Mary School where I was a Kindergarten teacher’s assistant for 13 years. 

Aside from working at the school, I also have been teaching catechism for 15 years at Immaculate Hear of Mary Parish.  I teach Reconciliation and First Communion classes. I also received my Masters Degree in Faith Formation and my certificate in Biblical Studies through the Institute of Pastoral Ministries in the Diocese of Orange.  I find this ministry to be rewarding because I am able to pass on the Catholic traditions which were taught to me to future generations.

My name is Amalia Prieto, and I have been employed with School of Our Lady for 5 years.  Prior to the opening of School of Our Lady, I worked for Our Lady of the Pillar for 3 years.  Besides working at the school, I also have two students who attend our wonderful school.  I enjoy the Catholic School environment that School of Our Lady provides, as the students are more morally connected and respectful to one another.

My name is Maria Luna and I am a teacher’s assistant at School of Our Lady.  I graduated from College in a small town named Colotlan, which I left behind to come to America for more opportunities. I got married here and had four kids.  I have worked closely with the kindergarten teacher for the past six years.  In that time I have implemented learning strategies, taught lessons and organized classroom projects.  I also have substituted when needed. One of my goals is to become a kindergarten teacher so I can educate and motivate students so they can have a successful future.

Mr. Mecina is the School of Our Lady janitor.  He gives the students an opportunity to learn in a clean and healthy environment.  He is a dedicated employee and has been working for our school for 19 years.  He originally worked for Immaculate Heart of Mary beginning in 1990, and from there he worked for School of Our Lady when the school opened in 2005.
